Pain is a creature misunderstood

I was thinking about the quote, "Pain demands to be felt."

Why does pain demand to be felt? How hard must pain fight to be felt when we feel all other feelings so naturally? It must be really hard to battle to be heard.

Why does pain so aggressively demand its right to be felt if not for the fact that we take away its right to exist every time it comes to us?

Pain is such a misunderstood emotion.

All it ever wanted was to be felt.

All it ever wanted was to be as celebrated as happiness.

Or as desired as love.

To have the space anxiety takes up.

To run wild in the way rage does.

All it ever wanted was to be welcomed.

But no… like Frankenstein’s monster, resurrected and abandoned, pain stands alone and abhorred.

All those who lay their innocent eyes upon it find horror.

They run and scream.

They drown and bleed.

They fight. Break faces. Burn worlds.

But they would not face the poor pitiful creature.

So, pain stands still and despised.

All it ever wanted … was to be felt
