As the in-house Editor + Marketing Coordinator

for TASTE, I led a dozen issues of the magazine from pitch to print.

Here's what a typical issue looked like:

Editorial oversight

  • Soliciting pitches and evaluating submissions

  • Substantively editing and copyediting the work of 8 to 10 freelancers

  • Proofreading the issue front to back (and back to front)

  • Maintaining style and tone of voice consistency according to brand guidelines

Writing + interviewing

Production

  • Planning and attending photoshoots

  • Managing the production schedule with the food stylists, photographer, and printer

  • Overseeing ad sales and artwork review (regularly exceeding my sales targets!)

Research

  • Conducting trend and market research

  • Conceptualizing and developing brand strategy for TASTE and BCLIQUOR Stores

  • Assisting with surveying our readership
