Project background

Before the film debuted at Cannes Film Festival, the producer and director gave me a copy and asked me to write a critical review if the material compelled me enough to do so. It did, so I did! They were delighted with the review I wrote and published it on the film's official blog, https://www.wallaboutmovie.com/blog.

Creative process

Because the clients were already familiar with my writing voice, they trusted and were intrigued by how I would process their work. With that confidence, I was able to watch the film, absorb it all, and then process it with greater cultural context at the moment it was written. I wrote the review over one weekend.

Final results

Because my review zoomed out on a bigger cultural context in which the film was made, the clients were very pleased and even sent out the piece for attempted publication in various prestigious magazines.

They believed the piece I wrote was so compelling that it convinced a wider audience of viewers to watch the film after it was published on their official film blog.
