Activity limbs PR campaign

Summary

Starship patients who have undergone amputation have recently received a huge boost in funding thanks to Starship Foundation Five Star Partner Barfoot & Thompson who committed to funding three years’ worth of secondary activity limbs.

Secondary activity limbs enable young amputees to participate sports and physical activity, opening doors to all sorts of things that may not be otherwise accessible. The benefits are myriad, including improved balance, range of motion and muscle growth, as well as greater self-esteem and social inclusion and reduced instances and duration of major depression.

This was a project our partner Barfoot & Thompson was incredibly passionate about. I led a multichannel PR campaign to showcase the incredible impact their generosity had on the lives of young New Zealanders. This included leading the production of two short reels for social media, pitching stories to media and writing an article for the Starship Foundation website.

Results

I achieved earned coverage across television, print, radio and digital resulting in numerous mentions for our sponsor and reaching an audience of over 150,000.

The supporting social media content was hugely successful, with one of the reels reaching 159% more accounts than average on Instagram and receiving over 119 hours of total watch time.
