Abigail

"No one said it was a kid!"

Well Joey, they left out more than that. A lot more actually.

Renesmee but Rated R.

"Abigail" follows a crew that gets hired to kidnap a rich man's daughter for ransom.

Yes, she is a vampire.

Yes, the fact that she is a vampire was depicted in all trailers released BUT that doesn't make the film unwatchable.

This film is an adaptation of "Dracula's Daughter", a horror film released in 1936. Also, it's a follow up to the hit film "Ready or Not" directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

A Killer Cast

This kidnapping-gone-wrong film includes many familiar faces including: Melissa Barrera (In The Heights & The Scream Franchise), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Alisha Weir, William Catlett, Kathryn Newton (Antman & The Wasp: Quantumania), Kevin Duran (X - Men Origins: Wolverine), Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian), Matthew Goode (Downton Abbey/ The Crown) and the one of the last acting roles of Angus Cloud (Euphoria) before his passing in 2023.

There are so many recognizable faces that one would think that it's too over saturated with talent... but that isn't the case. The screen time is divided well within the cast without the film having a long screen time.

With the way the script is written, the crew is thrown together randomly so viewers don't have to focus on prior relationship development. Instead, we are left to focus on our random crew trying to live long enough to escape.

Horror & Humor

As a horror fan if you miss the seriousness and humor that the first Scream film depicted on screen, then there is a high probability that you will enjoy it.

I found myself being impacted by jump scares, blood gushing and the humor all throughout the film's run time.

I wouldn't say it's my number one vampire movie but there were enough plot twists that weren't reveled in the trailer to give it a watch.
