Barbie

Hi Barbie!

A proud Barbie girl since 1993 (shout out to my mom because I know all of it added up every Christmas). My favorite part of the film was that I recognized most of the outfits that Margot and the costume designers that were able to bring them to life.

Barbie and Ken.

Right behind Margot Robbie as Barbie, we have Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Emerald Fennel, Alexandra Shipp, and Nicola Coughlan as Barbie.

Leading as Ken is the wonderful Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Scott Evans and John Cena.

Then there's Allan, played by Micheal Cera and Gloria, played by America Ferrera - who had one of the most moving monologues I've heard this year.

The Barbie cast is as stacked as its soundtrack is.

Margot Robbie IS Barbie!

When the film was in it early development stages, it was said that Amy Schumer was attached to it before Margot was cast in the role. Just like Marvel has the multiverse, I believe that if Amy Schumer remained cast as Barbie, it would have been seen as an entirely different film.

A feel good movie.

Between the marketing, the soundtrack, the movie goes going all out with pink outfits, the film did something that I haven't seen since Marvel's Black Panther was released.

Movie goers were unified and ready to enjoy a film about a character who remained as a constant in our childhood as we transitioned into womanhood.

Itā€™s lighthearted, relatable, and itā€™s SO FUNNY! I canā€™t say too much without giving away the plot but I really enjoyed it.
If you watched the trailer and think you have anything figured out, you donā€™t. You really donā€™t, especially the endingšŸ˜‚
