Released on September 30th, exclusively on Netflix, Kid Cudi's 'Entergalatic' film was released as a companion to his album of the same name. While the album may have made some noise, 'Entergalatic' the film has only made whispers and I need megaphone.
While most romcoms only show the story from one point of view, this film is rare with the fact that it has a refreshing, NON TOXIC, male and female perspective.
It's almost as if communication in a relationship is just as important as a good soundtrack is to a film.
Another aspect is that Netflix was brave enough to give the creators a chance. A simple love story between two black lead characters rarely happens in a live action environment, even less is it depicted in this kind of animation style. The ending result between Jabari and Meadow is truly beautiful.
Animation is a genre that does not get its due credit and has been snubbed countless times. Not with this gem.
The Emmy Award winning "Entergalactic" uses a mixture of 2D and 3D animation, a style that is gaining popularity with films like the Spider-Verse and The Bad Guys. Applied to everyday dating life situations of adults and the payoff, well simply put, paid off.
Along with Cudi voicing the main character, there is also: Jessica Williams, Timothee Chalamet, Laura Harrier, Ty Dolla $ign, Jaden Smith, Macaulay Culkin, Vanessa Hudgens, and Teyona Taylor.
From childhood actors to well known musicians, the film has a stacked cast, with many having character animations similar to what they look like in real life.
The mixture of animation with certain aspects of being an adult and executive produced by Kenya Barris makes this film a perfect way to wind down a night.
