Avatar: The Way of Water

“The Way of Water has no beginning and no end.”

It must be said that this is my favorite movie of 2022 but there is something important to remember about this second installment of the Avatar series.

A continuation of the story

If you didn’t like the first one then there is a strong possibility that you aren’t going to like this one. Don’t go into it, with a preconceived notion that the second chapter to this story will be any different.
The Way of Water acts as a continuation of a record breaking story introduced to us by James Cameron.

Let's face it, our attention spans are getting shorter.

It's a three hour film but it does not have a drag that one may be used to while watching films with a similar run time.

With the world building, there’s so much story that it's easy to see why remaining development of Pandora will take place across five different films.

Way of Water is calculated with what is expressed, everything we are seeing has a purpose or will come to have a purpose in the future films.

Parenting is hard.

One of the most beautiful stories in Way of Water is that we get to see Jake Sully and Neytiri as parents. It's rare to see the relationship between a parent and their child displayed as accurately as it is in this second installment. Parents are suppose to protect their children and, for the most part, parents elude to the fact that they are always right.

But sometimes being a child is hard too.

Some children don’t listen, and some may not ever be seen like they want to be, but that does not take away the fact that there are some moments where your child could be right even though they are viewing the 'very much adult situation' as a child.

Relatability

It’s ironic, or even funny, how the last time “I see you” was spoken that I realized something. I have never related more to a character than to Jake Sully’s second son, Lo'ak.
Thought it may have cost him a heavy price, Lo'ak was 'seen' by the end of the film and, in turn, I also saw myself.
