This adaptation of Twisters stars Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar – Jones, Anthony Ramos, Kiernan Shipka, David Corenswet, Sasha Lane, Brandon Perea, and Katy M. O’Brian. Powell flies by the seat of his pants and chases storms while Edgar – Jones is more strait laced when it comes to tracking them down. With an impressive cast, it is important to note that none of the original cast members from the original released in 1996 appear in the sequel.
If viewers feel a sense of disappointment from the lack of the original cast, Twisters makes put for it with its star-studded new soundtrack. Â Twisters: The Album includes 29 songs by the most popular country artists including Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Childers, Leon Bridges, Thomas Rhett, Megan Moroney, and Shania Twain. All of whom add an additional kick to the film, making Twisters the perfect summer blockbuster.
From costumes, vehicles, cameos, and technology, Twisters does not forget its predecessor. Without including spoilers, I will say that certain clothing items pay homage to Jo and Dusty from the original. Glen Powell’s Tyler has a red pick-up truck, as shown in the trailer, that is like the truck driven by the late Bill Paxton. Speaking of Bill Paxton, his son James appears for a very special cameo.
With the success of Twisters, the fact that it was received well and did not hurt or tarnish the foundation built but the 1996, and its open ended ending it’s not too far-fetched to assume we may circle back in a few years. Romantic relationships may develop, business partnerships have been established, and we all know that the storms never stop.
What’s in store for Universal and Warner Bros. Pictures storm chasing saga? Stay tuned. There is always a storm worth chasing. 🌪️
