Working alongside the manager I assisted with day to day functions of the business on a part-time basis to learn the ropes of front of house hospitality. Here, I ran & oversaw customer management, staff relationships and business communications on daily basis.

I developed a loyal and highly satisfied customer base through proactive management of customer service strategies. I also ran errands to support daily needs of management. I learnt a lot here on the basis of the foundations of hospitality and the interactions required within a business setting.

Making a change in the field of client industry, I then opted to work within the family company of medico-legal services. Taking on a junior administrative role, I communicated with professional services personnel such as lawyers and representatives of the road accident fund (RAF).

I composed marketing proposals, content ideas and feedback for the medico-legal team. Identifying and recommending changes on a junior level to existing processes to improve accuracy, I contributed to ensuring the highest efficiency and quality service. I also conducted PR and communications in-house within the team and outwards with clients.

PR, Marketing & Social Media Manager | NPO Director

Giovani Italo Sudafricani CPT (Cape Town, South Africa)

2021 — 2023

During my university years I was part of the founding committee of the Giovani Italo Sudafricani in Cape Town. Here I was resonsible for the running of social media channels, coordinating all PR and communications on a daily basis. I created copy and other online content for engaging and innovative campaigns. I played a fundamental role in building the Giovani CPT brand and media presence from scratch. Applying branding principles, I tried and tested different engagement strategies with our audience to see what was most receptive and effective.

I also oversaw all email communications and ran various email campaigns. In terms of PR, I organised the coordination of sponsorships with the Italian Consulate of South Africa and higher-level campaigns with luxury Italian brands such as Aperol Spritz. This also featured local restaurants and brands within Cape Town itself in the form of events, fundraisers and functions. I also became a director of the NPO itself, making my years there and my role played something a hold very dearly.

After discovering both my passion for online branding and content creation, as well as the skills I possessed to facilitate it, I looked further to up-skill and expand my knowledge. This saw me taking on a Marketing Industry Training Program and internship at Brainnest. As this was a remote opportunity, it allowed me to gain international marketing experience with a renowned German company while being based in Cape Town, South Africa.

I underwent, brief but intense, professional business training that taught me the basics for a solid foundation in marketing. This allowed me to have the guidance and understanding required to gain experience within the field. The remote nature of the program allowed the development of a new and crucial skillset required in today's times, especially in the world of digital marketing and online content creation.

The up-skilling and training received from this program combined with online courses completed via Coursera had been game-changing in developing my knowledge.

Content Writer & Digital Marketer

Rocket Expansion (Cape Town, South Africa)

January - July 2022

Being the first agency job I landed, this position offered learning opportunities in the form of on the job training while working with clients. Here, I was able to undergo training in short-courses and practical experience in the digital field as I worked more and more with content creation. I was in charge of content writing for a wide range of clients, spanning different industries, topics and niches. Here I was introduced to the world of SEO operations on websites, blog posts and general content, both short-form and long-form.

I developed a proficiency in paid social media advertising such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads and Instagram Ads. I oversaw the creation of original advertisements, copy and graphics for campaigns, both in-house and for all of our clients. In addition, I was responsible for a range of blog posts, email newsletters, marketing campaigns and website copy for the agency itself.

While this role was shorter than initially planned due to relocation needs, I am immensely grateful to have had such a well-balanced intorducion into the world of SEO and content creation.

SEO Copywriter & Content writer

BaseCloud (Cape Town, South Africa)

August 2022 - November 2023

Through the introduction I received into what content creation involves and entails, a passion for content writing was born and I wanted to put it to work. I expanded my skillset with the role of copywriter under me, working within a rapidly growing digital growth agency by the name of Basecloud. The role was remote and company culture was one of a commendable nature. Here, I played a fundamental role within the SEO department, wearing many hats and taking on a range of tasks and responsibilities.

Over all, I applied myself to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content and keeping to project deadlines. I specialised in content creation for a varied spectrum of clients, creating engaging copy in the form of blogs, email campaigns, newsletters, website copy and Google Business Profile posts to name a few. Alongside external writing for clients, I honed in on writing skills for internal copy for the company itself. Here, I learnt the art of SaaS writing and selling CRM within the tech sphere from a marketing standpoint.

Overall, I ensured that our clients received exceptional written content through thorough research and investigation while keeping their SEO keyword KPIs in mind. This position facilitated major growth within the industry and allowed me to level up in a wide range of skillsets, abilities and functions as a copywriter.

FOH & BOH Process Coordinator

Savora (Cape Town, South Africa)

November 2023 — April 2024

With my career taking an unexpected turn due to planning to immigrate to Europe, I then opted to shift from a remote job within content creation to the hustle and bustle of hospitality. This found me applying my diverse skillset differently as I contributed to the front of house functions, as well as marketing of a lounge concept restaurant in the booming area of Camps Bay, Cape Town. Although seemingly misaligned with a budding career within a digital content agency, my time within hospitality allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of human wants and needs in marketing as well as real-life A/B testing.

Helping with a spectrum of functions from branding to service, I further gained experience within a more à la carte dining experience. This allowed me to expanded my skillset within hospitality with an introduction to the world of mixology. I learnt FOH and BOH operations within a multifaceted team of industry experts. As this furthered my branding and marketing understanding within hospitality, I have now gained an even more varied skillset. In terms of in-person tasks, I conducted waiting team training and assisted the FOH manager with daily waiting operations. I also up-skilled on FOH hospitality protocols and procedures such as hostessing, reservations and floor operations, giving me an introduction to the nature of management and all it involves.

Unfortunately, this was cut short due to the restaurant closing down unexpectedly, however references from Savora can still be supplied if needed to corroborate all information.
