Folioeditor SEO blog

Project details

UX Studio launched a blog for designers to test if there would be a market for a dedicated portfolio builder tool.

I was a newly-hired content marketer whose job was to find an audience, and get them hyped.

How I ran Folioeditor: my tasklist

  • So. Much. Keyword. Research.

  • Research, write and edit blog posts, get them proofread

  • Optimize title, headings, the URL slug, everything; add internal links

  • Create creatives and banners

  • Optimize on-page images and social thumbnails

  • Write short copy advertising the new post

  • Distribute copy and build authentic links

Creative process

Keyword research is one thing. You also need to continuously study your audience to create valuable content.

I identified unaddressed concerns, from "oh no what do I put in my portfolio if I'm just starting out" to "what to never ever show a recruiter."

The result: readers feel seen, organic growth is unlocked, and our marketer can celebrate with some ridiculous dance.

[Your blog post] was super thorough and well-organized... I read the whole thing—and I usually don't.

— Feedback from a happy reader who made me even happier

Results

Ranked at the very top in a snap

For two targeted cornerstone keywords within a month of the posts published. I was tickled pink.

All KPIs met

I've researched, written and published all planned posts a month before the quarter ended, which gave me time to edit and update other posts.

Persistently useful content

Even though the project has been shut down due to lack of resources, the posts have been holding top positions for over two years between 2022-2024.
