Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee I wasn't sure of a lot. But I was certain of two things: I loved creative writing, and I was born to be a nurse. In my memory box stuffed somewhere in my attic you will find old photos of a four-year-old Morgan with her doctor's kit, listening to my mom's heart with my "stethoscope." Next to this you will find my first "published" books, laminated pages of absurdities that only an eight-year old mind can concoct.
My claim to fame by age 10 was winning a Reading Rainbow competition for my first illustrated book, "The Easter Bear." My confidence couldn't be tamed.
As I grew and learned more about myself and interests, I realized I was drawn to the creativity that the science of nursing required. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016, an advanced certification in HIV Nursing in 2020, and my Master of Science in Nursing Education in 2021. When I wasn't burning the midnight oil studying for exams, I was writing my first novel. In 2018 I published The Qualms of the Left Behind.
I have worked as a nurse for six years and faced many challenges, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a way to offset the stresses being a nurse in the midst of a pandemic brought, I sought out writing opportunities in which I could translate my knowledge of health and science into appealing and helpful content.
In the past two years, I have worked as a Subject Matter Expert for LearningMate, written a set of 9 monologues that were performed virtually live in Nashville, created and grown a nursing blog called The Teachable Nurse, and created content for an online website dedicated to helping nursing students comprehend complex topics.
I am always looking forward to the next challenge, so please visit my "Let's Work Together" page and let's get collaborating!
