Project background

I was asked by the website Picmonic to write and film lessons teaching on various health topics. The challenge I faced was taking large amounts of information and writing the lessons in a way that were engaging, succinct, and easy to follow.

Creative process

Because Picmonic is known for its pneumonic device system to help nursing students retain information, I had to find ways of complex topics such as a virus invading a host cell and coming up with metaphors to make them easy to remember (and make it easy for the illustration team to insert graphics). To do this I tapped into my storytelling abilities and likened the process of a virus invading a host cell to an intruder breaking and entering into a home.

Final results

Picmonic has a Youtube channel with 155k subscribers. Each video I have written and filmed has received anywhere between 400 and 800 views.
