Destiny Alexis Burks is a published journalist born on the 4th of December, 1997 in Tennessee. She obtained her first degree in English at Southwest Tennessee Community College and earned her Bachelor's of English, with a concentration of Creative Writing and minor in Sociology, from the University of Memphis.
During her enrollment at the University of Memphis, Burks was a member of the Creative Writing Club. She also crossed for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Gamma Chapter and served as secretary for Rho Gamma.
Destiny Alexis Burks is the author of numerous publications which have been featured in both print and online newspapers and blogs. Her debut poem, "The Tilted Rose", focusing on identity and life, has been featured in Creative Communications and her poem, "Best Friends Forever", has been published in Overton High School's CAPA book and read during her school's event for writers and poets.
Burks wrote for The Southwest Source, Southwest Tennessee Community College's student newspaper, where she published stories focusing on student life and college events. She also freelance writes for Memphis newspaper, The New Tri-State Defender. Her article, "Block party to showcase Cupcake Cutie, Etc.’s second anniversary", features Robert Clayton, owner of Cupcake Cutie Etc, who framed Burks' article in his bakery.
