School Catering

Overview

Over my 12 months at Midshire Signature Services, I spent a large amount of my time marketing the school catering side of the business. This quickly turned into my favourite part of my job and I was always ready with a new creative idea to pitch.

These included:

  • Video content to show added value initiatives

  • Workbooks for the primary school children that represented each of the characters in 'The Positives'

  • Video content to show the amazing work the staff do

  • Promotional posters for the theme of the month

What follows on this page is examples of what is mentioned above to showcase how I put my ideas into practice.

Let's start with video content

Added Value - Smoothie Bike

This video involved two days worth of filming to capture the fun that was brought into primary schools to teach the children the importance of eating fruit and veg, by introducing making smoothies through pedaling a bike to power the blender.

Day In The Life - Catering Manager Edition

The idea behind this idea was to showcase the amazing work one of the managers within a secondary school puts on every day. He had previously taken part in the LACA competition and won in his region. The video shows everything he does in a day from presenting delicious food to students, to being a great manager to his staff.

Introducing 'The Positives' workbooks

Colouring pages

I designed pages to match each of the characters and what they represent. This example was to go with the character that represented nutrition.

Activities

There was a workbook for each character which included a wordsearch, a creative task, and more.

Posters

This poster was created for a biscuit decorating competition held in one of the secondary schools after receiving a brief from one of the Operations Managers.

Following the brief, I created the name and design of the poster to coincide with branding and the theme of Christmas.

This poster was then displayed in the school canteen for all the students to see which led to entries to build into double figures.

Summary

I took on a range of project throughout my time in this role as a Marketing Assistant and took the skills I gained into future roles and will continue to do this throughout my career.

I really enjoyed working within the contract catering company and valued the experience to kickstart my career in marketing.
