Words are my love language. They have the ability to either heal or hurt, destroy or create. I believe all words have immense power, whether spoken, written, or simply the words we use in our thoughts.
As a true introvert, I find the written word liberating in expressing myself and connecting with people. In a similar way, I find great joy in playing with brands to craft a unique voice to tell their brand story and create an emotional connection with their customers.
After a decade of working for agencies and in-house as a copywriter for lots of amazing brands, I had very itchy feet which I decided to scratch by trying out the full-time freelance gig, fuelled by my desire to work from home in my pajamas all day and do my grocery shopping on a quiet Tuesday morning. Well, the PJ thing didn’t quite work out since Zoom camera meetings are now a thing, but that’s alright because my favourite part about freelance life is that it gives me the flexibility to be present for my two beautiful boys and a very spoilt boxer pup, who needs a lap to sleep on all day.
Over the years, I’ve sharpened my pen on the likes of Poetry, MySchool, Keedo, Shimansky, Casa Bella, Old Khaki and Spur Kids Secret Tribe to name a few of my favourites. I’ve worked on everything from blogs, mailers, website copy and editorials, to print packaging, billboard signage, radio adverts and everything else you can think of.
Between being a full-time freelance copywriter and using my free evenings to fold an obscene amount of laundry (read: Why Do Kids Change Outfits Five Times a Day?), I find happiness in forest walks with my family, watching Friends and The Office for the 100th time, trying new plant-based recipes, and building sandcastles on the beach.
